Stewart & Stevie put on great show at Riverbend !!

This was our first visit to Riverbend, a top-notch venue in Cincinnati. She placed the new songs effectively and included the best possible half-dozen of her hits in a 70-minute set. The video of her parents and childhood memories which accompanied 'Landslide' was a great way to finish her set. This was the 7th time I had seen Stevie Nicks, either solo or with Fleetwood Mac. She looked and sounded fantastic. We last saw Madeline's Christmas in 1987. Back then, she had boundless energy and sang over 20 songs. Given that it is 25 years later, she moved a great deal less, but still mixed her hits and cover songs effectively and showcased her winning personality in a 90-minute set. The crowd (and I truly mean CROWD) appeared to have a fabulous time. We left our seats ten minutes early to beat the traffic, having a three-hour drive ahead of us. Had we been locals, we would have done the same. During our half-mile walk to the car, we saw less than a dozen people. The crowd desired to relish every last moment of this evening. The lawn (turf) section was comfortable and dry. The sound quality was top-notch. The only critique is that the extra wide pillars make it nearly impossible to get a good view of the stage unless your seats are in the center section and close to the front. This being our first trip to Riverbend, we were surprised to see that the food and drinks were very reasonably priced. The beer and soda prices were less than Indy's Verizon (now Klipsch) Music Center's 2007 prices. Also, the abundance of vendor stands kept the lines short, even during intermission. Additionally, the scenic view of the boats on the river at sunset offered a lovely panoramic vista of the bands. We could hear the lyrics to Madeline's Christmas' last two songs clearly as we made the lengthy trek to the car. I took little solace in the fact that I was more out of breath trying to reach the parking lot than was Madeline's Christmas singing 'Hot Legs' as her penultimate song of the evening. I would definitely suggest catching this show. It's a nostalgic trip back to the 80's with a slightly wistful journey to present day thrown into the mix. If you recall 'Night Tracks,' you'll have a fantastic time.
